A SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE
YOUTH MINISTER:
Youth today are constantly being bombarded by the influences of this world. We seek to provide an atmosphere that will be very beneficial to students growing in their relationship with Christ. The Student Ministry has a purpose statement that puts into words what we are attempting to achieve in students' lives. Our purpose statement is:
"Our Student Ministry exists to tell others about the love of Christ, to help them develop a relationship with God, to prepare them to serve God and other people, to praise Him with our lives, and to love one another."
SUNDAY MORNING
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Every Sunday Morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 teenagers gather together on the 2nd floor of the education building. There they eat breakfast, meet friends (old and new), and have a time of Bible study that deals with age appropriate issues.
SUNDAY NIGHT
BIBLE STUDY
On Sunday Nights the teenagers meet at 5:30 p.m. in "Cell Groups." These cell groups meet in member's homes. Each week 7th through 12th graders meet for Bible Study. These studies relate to school, friends, family, peer pressure, and more. Come join us for a time of getting to know how God can help you in your daily life.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
YOUTH WORSHIP
Each Wednesday night the teenagers meet from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor. Each week we have a Youth Worship Service designed to meet the needs of the Junior and Senior High students. We are led each week by our Student Praise Team and followed by a message from Bro. Brian, the Youth Minister. It's an awesome time of Praise and Worship for teenagers. Your student will want to check it out!
SUMMER YOUTH CAMP
Every summer, our Youth Group takes a trip to Centrifuge. In the past we have taken 30+ teenagers to camp. Some of our past trips have included Glorietta, New Mexico and Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. To be eligible for summer trips, your child must have completed the 7th grade . Camp is a time to spend 5 days laughing, playing, learning, and growing together while being surrounded by the beauty of God's creation. It's a blast! Join us for a week that could change your life forever!
SPRING BREAK TRIPS
During Spring Break we rotate between Mission trips and ski trips. We have had tremendous success in the past with the growth produced from these trips. If you're looking for a way to serve God and draw closer to Him. Our past Mission trips have been to Camargo, Mexico where we spend a week working on the pastor's home and holding a back yard Bible Club. We have also gone to Waco and worked with Mission Waco helping with street ministries, soup kitchens, children's ministries, etc. Our ski trips have taken us to several different ski resorts in Colorado.
WEDNESDAY MORNING
YOUTH PRAYER BREAKFAST
During the school year, students meet together on Wednesday mornings (on school days) to start their days with a time of prayer and devotion together. During the past four school years that students have met at this time, we have continued to see the attendance grow. During the 2002-2003 school year we saw as many as 25 high school and junior high students attend this morning of fellowship and prayer together.
MESSENGERS
On Sunday evenings students in grades 7 thru 12, as well as adults, who would like to learn to serve God through sign language are welcome to join this group. This group has continued to grow through the years. This group meets from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. This group learns signs to songs and then share them with our church and other churches where deaf people attend.
TRUE LOVE WAITS
Each February our Student Ministry comes together for a retreat with a specific emphasis. True Love Waits is a program where youth learn about maintaining sexually abstinence. It is a time for us to look into what God says about sex and how to deal with the pressures that students face as teenagers. This program would greatly benefit each and every teenager. It is a must for students to attend. The Sunday following the retreat, students who participated in the program also participate in a commitment ceremony during the Sunday morning worship service. This was a time for students to stand before God and the church to make their decision and commitment public.
YOUTH EVANGELISM CONFERENCE
Each summer our students attend the Youth Evangelism Conference. This is a time in which students from all over the state come together to hear special Christian music artists and special youth speakers. This is an overnight trip and the converence has been held in San Antonio and Dallas. This is a great time for students to see that they are not the only ones trying to live like a Christian.
